Here’s the truth – we all have experienced procrastination at some point, especially when it comes to studying for important exams like the FE/PE. However, procrastination can significantly impact your performance and result in less time for preparation, increased stress, and decreased motivation.
Have you ever procrastinated getting prepped, committing, or setting the goal to ace these difficult exams (or really anything in your career/life?)?
Here are some tips to help you overcome procrastination and get the most out of your study time:
1. Set a schedule: Make a plan for when and how long you will study each day, and stick to it. This will create structure and accountability in your study routine. I recommend 2 hours during the week and more on the weekends (it’s a part-time job really!).
2. Break it down: Divide your study material into smaller, manageable chunks, and tackle one at a time. This can help you avoid feeling overwhelmed and make progress steadily.
3. Eliminate distractions: Turn off notifications on your phone, find a quiet study environment, and eliminate anything that may distract you.
4. Get an accountability partner: Studying with a partner can keep you motivated and on track. It's also a great way to hold each other accountable for meeting your goals. In our courses, we provide private communities of people taking these exams. If you need extra help, you could reach out within the group and find someone aligned with your exam/schedule to take it even further.
5. Reward yourself: Set achievable goals for each study session, and reward yourself once you've completed them. This can give you a sense of accomplishment and keep you motivated.
6. Start early: Don't wait until the last minute to start studying. Starting early will give you more time to absorb the material and avoid feeling rushed. Give yourself 3 to 4 months of study time. More if you feel you’ve been out of the game. Start early and start plugging away.
Remember, procrastination is a common challenge, but it can be overcome with a little discipline and effort. By following these tips, you'll be on your way to successful exam preparation!
