The highly sought-after prized initials, P.E., after your name is a path full of blood, sweat, and tears, so is a PE license really worth it?
Let me cut to the chase: the answer is YES. (Bet you didn’t see that coming.)
First of all, some states actually require engineers to have a PE license to even call themselves engineers, so there’s that. Secondly, in a pile of applicants for your engineering dream job, who do you think will stand out? The person with a PE license or the person without one?
I’ll cut to the chase again: the person with a PE license!
Yes, becoming a PE is a painful process, including sitting for the 8-hour long PE exam, but as one of my favorite quotes by Earl Nightingale states:
“Never give up on a dream just because of the time it will take to accomplish it. The time will pass anyway.”
(Write THAT on a post-it & put in on your bathroom mirror so it can stare back at you every morning. 😆)
In my Quick Tips video below, I break down all the reasons it is worth it to get your PE licesnse, including increased pay (that’s a popular one for some reason).
So, hang with me for a few minutes, and I hope you’ll be inspired to commit yourself to the process of getting the prized P.E. after your name, too!
